Cori Regan and Marissa Ramos-Vitarelli, speech-language pathologists, will conduct a Solving the Motor Mystery workshop at PATH Family Center on Monday, April 19, from 7 to 9 pm.

Join us as we take the mystery out of motor speech disorders and childhood apraxia of speech. This workshop will explain what motor speech disorders are and how they differ from other language disorders. Various approaches will be explained with plenty of basic practical strategies for eliciting language for children on different levels of functioning. Strategies will include targeted words and activities to help parents foster their child's language skills.

Cori Regan is a Speech Language Pathologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Currently, Cori works for the NYC Department of Education and NYS Early Intervention program providing treatment and evaluations. Cori has over 15 years experience working with autistic spectrum disorder, sensory integration and motor speech disorders. She is a Certified PROMPT Instructor. Cori has special interest in the treatment of motor speech disorders and utilizes a multi-sensory, holistic approach. Cori has received training in the Lindamood Bell programs and continues to pursue continuing education in her areas of interest. Cori's goal is to help all children develop the skills necessary to become effective communicators.

Marissa Ramos-Vitarelli is Speech Language Pathologist and a Certified PROMPT Instructor. She is the director of the Integrated Developmental Center on Staten Island where the Speech Language Pathologists specialize in the treatment and evaluation of children with feeding and motor speech disorders. Marissa has previously treated children in the NYC Early Intervention Program, the NYC Department of Education, Association in Manhattan for Autistic Children and at the Therapy SPOT. She was an evaluator with the Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician, Dr. Marilyn Agin in New York City, as well. When treating children with motor speech disorders, Marissa primarily implements the PROMPT and Debra Beckman treatment approaches; however, she is trained in various other motor speech and oral motor approaches.
