A mom with High-Functioning Autism created an innovative weighted blanket designed to feel cozy, soft, and calm to children and adults from with Autism, Asperger Syndrome, ADHD, PDD-NOS, or mental illness.
Eileen Parker created her weighted blanket for herself. She tried five weighted blankets from others already on the market and discovered the pros and cons of each. After trying them herself, she decided to make a better weighted blanket designed for people like her.
The deep pressure is calming. It’s called proprioceptive input, which is deep pressure on the joints, and if you get enough of it, it stimulates and increases dopamine levels in your system, which is comforting. It’s a calming input into the nervous system.
