Comment:
February 25, 2012 I initially met Dr. Chris Davidson at an IEP meeting for a client that we shared. I was the child’s occupational therapist funded by the school district and she was the child’s advocate. During that meeting and others that followed (as over the years we’ve shared several students) I became very aware that Dr. Davidson is unlike any other advocate with whom I’ve worked. She has an abundance of knowledge on all aspects of academics, occupational, physical and speech and language therapies. Additionally, unlike other advocates that I have worked with, she is always polite and treats the team with respect. This may not seem very important but believe me it is, because it keeps IEP meetings running smoothly. Although all members may not agree, Dr. Davidson does her best to ensure productive discussion in the best interests of the child. So naturally, when I was struggling with our school district for the appropriate placement and services for my own son who has a diagnosis of Autism, one of the first people I called was Dr. Davidson. She did a complete battery of testing on my son, identified his strengths and needs. She was able to determine the appropriate setting for him. The school district was unable to argue with her results, nor could they argue with the placement suggestion once they accepted the test results. My son did very well in the school district with the assistance of Dr. Davidson and his team up until the 3rd grade when bullying set in. The school ignored my repeated requests to intervene, they said that my son, who is autistic, had to be responsible for what was happening. I decided to remove my son from school and begin home schooling. I began to plan for that transition and contacted Dr. Davidson for her input and advice. She helped research home school programs and because she cares so much about my son and understands that he has a beautiful mind and will one day be able to make a true contribution to society, she began the home schooling process with him. When he started with her, he was writing at a 1st grade level and to get him to attempt any writing was a battle. Now his writing is much improved and he does not complain about it. Although he was able to read, he refused most of the time, now he reads, still with protest but much improved. My husband and I know how instrumental Dr. Davidson is in shaping our son’s education and life. I know that one day he will look back on his younger years and realize how lucky he was to have someone so caring and wonderful in his life. Sincerely, Jennifer Gardner

Dr. Davidson was the best. We were fortunate to find someone that was willing to fight for what our son needed and saw the potential in our 14 year old. Through her testing she was able to provide us with a true IQ and cognitive abilities which allowed for us to seek the appropriate placement in a higher functioning class within the District. She also developed goals based on his Present Level of Performance and California Standards, which will give us and the District a road map to ensure that he receives the education he is entitled too. The Independent Assessment took place over three 5 hour sessions that the District paid for. We are looking forward to the year ahead and we haven't been able to say that for a long time. We owe Dr. Davidson a debt of gratitude for all she has done for our son.

Comment:
I am the mother of a thirteen year-old son that suffers from Bipolar Disorder. If managing his healthcare and treatment weren’t challenging enough, his education added another source of difficulty. More times than I can count, I have been told by mental health professionals and educators that my son is one of the most challenging cases they have seen. Although I believe that Dr. Davidson would conquer with that opinion, she has never shied away from helping him. Dr. Davidson’s comprehensive psycho-educational testing and reporting uncovered the needs and areas of weakness in our son’s learning aptitude. The detailed information that Dr. Davidson reported made the difference in the services we were able to get for our son. The objective evidence she presented to the school district on our son’s behalf was what we needed to substantiate the costly academic programs and therapies that our son desperately needed. Without Dr. Davidson’s representation and dedication to our family, I am confident that the school district would not have given us the services that my son needed; even more importantly, he wouldn’t be in school today. Dr. Davidson has truly been our son’s advocate, and she has taught my husband and me how to more effectively advocate for him as well. Dr. Davidson has become an integral part of our team and my son would not be functioning and learning at the level that he is today if it wasn’t for her. We will be forever indebted to Dr. Davidson!
