Comment:
I had such high hopes when making an appointment with Dr. Bock. Sadly, the whole experience there was a huge waste of our money and our time. I thought I would get some answers to questions, have some idea what direction he thought we needed to go in with our son and instead, I felt I got more out of his book that I paid a few bucks for versus the $1000 I spent on the appointment. I found most of the staff we came in contact with (except one) to be very rude and unhelpful. After our appointment, when we were with the nurse, I noticed he wanted a certain pricey test done - which we had just done. I asked her if she could ask him if he wanted it redone or if he had missed the results somehow. The nurse yelled at me, "Well, don’t do it then!" We had not even left the exam room and she REFUSED to ask him. Then, we were shuffled over to the lab (to which you have to pay in full everything you have done) - we opted to get a script and take our child to where our insurance would cover the charges. They handed us test kits for some other tests and sent us to the supplement counter. After telling the person behind the counter that we weren't buying any supplements and I just wanted the sheet with his recommendations for our son, we had to WAIT AN HOUR for her to get all of the supplements out (that I told her we were NOT buying). Then, as we were ready to pay for our appointment, they CHARGED us for the FREE test kits. We returned them (you can call the labs and get them shipped to you for free - how he is charging for them seems illegal and unethical to me) - they REFUSED - REFUSED to write me a prescription for the testing as that was included in the $20 test kit fee. WASN'T THE $1000 WE PAID FOR THE APPOINTMENT ENOUGH? Their whole process/office is a nightmare for a child with autism and for the parents as well – from the hot tea urn placed about a foot off the floor to being shuffled from the waiting room, to an exam room, to Bock’s office, back to the exam room, to the lab, to the supplement counter, etc etc. After returning home, I called and ask that someone return my call regarding the test that I had asked the nurse about. No one ever returned my call. When I called to schedule a 15 minute follow up because I had ONE QUESTION for him – I was quoted $500. When I said never mind, I was told I would NOT be receiving my son’s test results that I paid $2000 for out of pocket if we weren’t coming back. When I had our doctor request a copy of his file, the results they tried to hang over my head had vanished. (Luckily I had already secured copies.) I could continue writing about our experience, but I am sure you can see that I do not recommend this practice at all.
