Dr. Blacher is the Founding Director of SEARCH [Support, Education, Advocacy, Resources, Community, Hope], the new family autism resource center at UC Riverside. SEARCH targets the provision of information to low income and Spanish-speaking children. Dr. Blacher's own work includes publications on issues related to families, mental retardation, and out-of-home placement. Dr. Blacher is Principal Investigator of the UC Riverside Families Project, a 22-year longitudinal study of families who have children with severe handicaps, funded by NICHD. She is also Co-Investigator on The Collaborative Family Study, a multi-site longitudinal study (UCR, UCLA, Penn State) of children's emotional regulation and predictors of psychiatric disorder. Currently, she is collaborating on a study of school adaption in children with ASD, with The HELP Group/UCLA Research Alliance.
