NARHA Premier Accredited Center Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated to providing quality instruction in therapeutic horseback riding to disabled persons. Since incorporating in 1987, STAR has grown to be the largest program in East Tennessee. The mission of STAR is to provide an educational, recreational, and physically challenging experience through riding and other horse related activities for persons with disabilities in the Knoxville and surrounding areas. The skills gained in the STAR program will result in an enriched quality of life for the participants
