Established in 1955, Speech and Language Development Center (SLDC) is a non-profit school and therapy center, serving more than 340 children and young adults who have neurologically-based difficulties in language, learning, and/or behavior. Students are referred to the Center by school districts in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, as well as by Regional Centers. SLDC serves students who have a variety of handicapping conditions, including autism, deaf or hard of hearing, visual impairment, Down Syndrome, learning handicap, and emotionally disturbed. On-site therapeutic services include Speech/Language Pathology, Adapted Physical Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Counseling and Audiology. The Center’s enrollment also includes non-handicapped students in Reverse Inclusion Classrooms for children ages three to twelve years. Some clinical services are available to non-students after regular school hours.
