Dr. Machalicek is a board certified behavior analyst (license no. 1-06-3175) with over 10 years experience with children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed applied behavior analysis and special education journals and has presented her research on the assessment and treatment of challenging behavior in both the United States and the United Kingdom. She is the 2008 recipient of The American Association for Persons with Intellectual and Development Disabilities student award for excellence in service and research.
Dr. Machalicek is available to families, schools, and social service agencies for both private consultation and group training. With the use of innovative strategies like videoconferencing, Dr. Machalicek is able to support families and teachers when and where they need assistance.
Dr. Machalicek's areas of expertise include:
-The assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors (e.g., observations, Functional Assessment Interviews and rating scales, Experimental Functional Analysis, development of function based behavior support plan).
-Educational assessment and intervention for students with severe disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. (communication and social skills; play; daily living and self-care skills including toileting and feeding; vocational skills;identifying preferred items or activities that can be used as reinforcers, inclusion, self-determination)
-Parent and teacher instruction, coaching, and ongoing support in evidence-based assessment, teaching, and behavior management strategies.
There is no charge for an initial phone consultation with Dr. Machalicek. This initial phone consultation can help to determine if there is good fit between the client's objectives and support needs and Dr. Machalicek's expertise and availability. At this time, Dr. Machalicek does not accept insurance.
