In my practice, I have assisted families with special needs children in learning about the state and federal laws that affect their children. I have helped these families with their efforts to obtain services for their children under Article 7 of the Indiana Code, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA 2004) and the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). In doing so, I have attended case conference committee meetings with parents in order to create appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEPs). I have also assisted parents with due process hearings and answered questions that parents have about their children's rights. Additionally, I have assisted families with special needs children by creating estate planning documents that will adequately plan for the futures of all family members involved. Often, families with a special needs child require more detailed estate planning in order to preserve a child's ability to recieve Social Security Disability benefits and Medicaid. I am happy to help each family find the solution that best fits their needs.
