With just a few clicks, the site provides access to disability-related information and programs available across the government on numerous subjects, including benefits, civil rights, community life, education, employment, housing, health, technology and transportation.

State Agency

The mission of the Resource Center is to create, promote, and facilitate positive changes in the systems serving individuals with disabilities, those with other diverse needs, and the families of those individuals.

Early ACCESS is a partnership between families with young children, birth to age three, and providers from the Departments of Education, Public Health, Human Services, the Child Health Specialty Clinics. The purpose of this program is for families and staff to work together in identifying, coordinating and providing needed services and resources that will help the family assist their infant or toddler to grow and develop.

The Department of Human Rights provides assistance and guidance for persons with disabilities regarding employment issues.

The Iowa Insurance Division supervises all insurance business transacted in the state, including health maintenance organizations and mutual hospital and health service corporations.

The Iowa Program for Assistive Technology (IPAT) is Iowa's grant project under the Assistive Technology Act (ATA) of 1998. IPAT's goals are to promote and create systems change in the state with regards to assistive technology (AT) and it's use. IPAT works with consumers and family members, service providers, and state and local agencies/organizations to promote assistive technology through awareness, training, and policy work.

Programs for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities: Ages Birth through 2.

AUCD formerly UAP(University Affiliated Programs) are authorized by federal legislation to help States and local communities respond to the needs of people with developmental disabilities and their families.(AUCDs) serve as a liaison between the academic world and the developmental disabilities service delivery system. AUCDs network with and provide assistance to State Agencies, their local affiliates, and to various nongovermental consumer-based organizations. Most AUCDs provide direct clinical, educational, and other services to individuals and families, or can assist families in finding services.

The Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa is dedicated to identifying causes and promoting prevention of learning disabilities and to enhancing the quality of life for all individuals with learning disabilities and their families by: -Encouraging effective identification and intervention, -Fostering research -Protecting the rights of individuals with learning disabilities under the law.

PTI is a federally-funded grant project from the U.S. Department of Education. PTI provides training and information that meets the needs of parents of children with disabilities in Iowa. We focus particularly on underserved families and parents of children who may be inappropriately identified. PTI provides training opportunities on the Individuals with Disabilities Eduction Act (IDEA) of 1997. This training makes clear the availability of, and how to effectively use proceedural safegards under IDEA '97, including alternative methods of dispute resolution, as described in the Act. PTI assists parents to better understand their children's disability and educational development.
