Arrowhead West, Inc., (AWI) is a not for profit organization which serves children ages birth to three and adults over the age of eighteen with developmental disabilities. Common developmental disabilities are mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, head injury and multiple physical disabilities. We also serve young children who have substantial developmental delays or specific cognitive or acquired conditions which could result in developmental disabilities if our services were not provided.

The Purpose of the Autism Asperger Resource Center (AARC) is to foster the behavioral, academic, and social development of persons with Autism, Asperger's Disorder, and related exceptionalities by offering a variety of services to individuals and support networks.

More than 10 national autism leadership organizations have come together to form AutismCares, a nationwide disaster relief effort that will potentially assist thousands of Katrina families living with autism. To address the most immediate needs, ”AutismCares – Katrina” is coordinating support for the unique needs of families affected by autism through facilitating temporary / permanent relocation support, mobilizing specialty assistance teams and providing autism-conscious supplies directly to these families and the professionals caring for them.

Provides technical assistance to families and local services.

In the belief that Big Lakes Developmental Center was incorporated to provide services for the citizen who is developmentally disabled, our mission is "to provide quality services and programs which promote independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion into the community for persons with developmental disabilities." We advocate the rights of individuals with developmental disabilties.

Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities programs provide long-term, graduate level interdisciplinary training to health professionals . The purpose is to develop leadership potential to improve the health status of infants, children, and adolescents with or at risk for neurodevelopmental and related disabilities and to enhance the systems of care for these children and their families. The program focuses on health conditions of mental retardation, neurodegenerative and acquired neurological disorders and multiple handicaps. All LEND Programs operate within a university system and most have collaborative arrangements with local university hospitals, children's hospitals, and/or health care centers.

The purpose of CLASS LTD is to assure that community services and supports are available to people with developmental and similar disabilities. CLASS LTD's services and supports will assist them in achieving the lifestyle of their choice, community inclusion, opportunities and coordination of services to enhance their quality of life. CLASS LTD serves four counties in Southeast Kansas: Cherokee, Crawford, Labette, and Montgomery. CLASS LTD has Assistive Technology Services that helps adapt an individuals environment to meet special needs in residential, vocational, and recreational settings. The Epilepsy Foundation of Kansas and Western Missouri (EF) is a not-for-profit organization. Begun in 1956 in Kansas City, Missouri, EF has grown from a small affiliate office to supporting outreach services in 33 western Missouri counties and the state of Kansas. EF provides programs of information, referral, public and professional education, employment assistance, advocacy, and self-help.

Equal Chance Education Consulting, LLC (EC²) is dedicated to providing solutions and support to parents of children with special needs through qualified advocacy, education and legal services. EC²’s philosophy is simple: facilitate direct and constructive communication between parents and school districts that focuses on the child’s needs and works to provide that child with an opportunity for success within the current legal framework. Nancy Huerta, Esq., founder, and owner of EC², has practiced special education law since 1994. She is an honors graduate of Harvard University and the University of Chicago Law School and is currently completing her Master’s in special education with an emphasis on behavior disorders and autism at the University of Kansas. Ms. Huerta recently co-authored the handbook, IDEA As Amended in 2004 (Turnbull, Huerta and Stowe) and a special education textbook, Free Appropriate Public Education: Law and the Education of Children with Disabilities, (Turnbull, Stowe and Huerta).
