The Autism and Developmental Disorders Monitoring Network (ADDM Network). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is now funding researchers in many states, including Alabama, to develop programs to monitor the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and other developmental disabilities. The goal of the ADDM Network is to provide comparable, population-based estimates of the prevalence rates of autism and related disorders in different sites over time.

The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services' (ADRS) mission is to enable Alabama's children and adults with disabilities to achieve their maximum potential. We are the only state agency in the country that offers a comprehensive array of medical, educational, psychological, vocational, technological and independent living services for children and adults with disabilities from birth through old age. Alabama Disabilities Action Coalition is a non-partisan coalition of individuals with disabilities and organizations representing them. ADAC conducts Candidates Forums and Legislative Days to educate legislators and the public about disability issues. ADAC's committees are working on other ways to advance the causes of people with disabilities in Alabama.

ADAP's Mission is to provide quality, legally-based advocacy services to persons with disabilities through protecting, promoting, and expanding their rights.

ADAP is the federally mandated, statewide, "Protection and Advocacy" (P&A) program serving eligible individuals with disabilities in Alabama. The central purpose of P&A programs throughout the United States is to respond to allegations of abuse, neglect and violations of rights of persons with disabilities or discrimination based on their disability.

Easter Seals children's services help kids with disabilities succeed in school. Easter Seals employment programs help people learn job skills and enter the workplace. Easter Seals physical medicine and rehabilitation services help people return to their everyday lives. Easter Seals services are comprehensive and individualized to meet each client's needs, family-focused to meet each family member's concerns, outcome-oriented with a goal of enhanced independence, and cost-effective benefiting from public support.
