Speech/Language Pathology services for people with autism and a variety of speech/language/swallowing issues.

We offer consultation services to support individualized in-home behavioral
treatment for children with special needs, with an emphasis on those between 2 to13 years of age, including those with Autism/PDD-NOS, Aspergers, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy and Downs Syndrome. The foundation of our programming is the research-backed approach of Applied Behavior Analysis supplemented by current techniques drawn from the various disciplines that work with development disorders for a truly integrated solution. Several service options are available to meet individual needs and budgets.

Services provided include, advocacy, educational workshops or trainings, tutoring, and resource referral.

We provide education, information and support for families and friends with autism, as well as educaitonal staff and society. We meet once a monthon the 2nd Wednesday with a topic every month. We support familes on and individual basis.

The Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic that brings together a campus and community-wide collaboration of clinicians, researchers and families to foster excellence in clinical care for children and families with ASD. It is staffed by specialists in developmental/behavioral pediatrics, psychology and neuro-psychology. It is part of a university- wide effort to also foster clinical research and basic science research into the clinical and biological underpinnings of these disorders. The broad objectives of the program include (1) Providing a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary center for the evaluation and diagnosis of ASD (2) Working closely with families and community outreach, and (3) Fostering clinical training and research efforts.

The Autism Treatment and Resource Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for people of all ages with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, their families and our communities. We offer biomedical interventions, dietary modifications, medical evaluations and treatments for any coexisting conditions and work with a patients primary to deliver the best wrap-around care. We offer these services at affordable prices and testing "at cost".

One of the most complex tasks both parents and professionals face is developing and implementing an effective language intervention for children with autism. Parents and professionals are finding that BOTH Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET), together with the help of Skinner's (1957) Functional Analysis of Verbal Behavior to be very effective for children with autism. This is commonly referred to as Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB)which is a specialty within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). It is a place where parents and professionals running home (and school) programs can discuss concerns and share their knowledge of this type of teaching.

More than 10 national autism leadership organizations have come together to form AutismCares, a nationwide disaster relief effort that will potentially assist thousands of Katrina families living with autism.

To address the most immediate needs, ”AutismCares – Katrina” is coordinating support for the unique needs of families affected by autism through facilitating temporary / permanent relocation support, mobilizing specialty assistance teams and providing autism-conscious supplies directly to these families and the professionals caring for them.
