I am a consulting Board Certified Behavior Analyst in MN and WI. I am currently consulting families who have received an autism diagnosis for one of their children, but are in limbo for one reason or another (on a wait list for services or awaiting funding approval). What is Part C? Part C is an interagency family centered program for infants and toddlers with disabilities, ages birth to three and their families. The Minnesota Departments of Education (MDE), Health (MDH) and Human Services (DHS) work together with local early childhood intervention committees (IEICs) to provide coordinated services and funding for each eligible child and his or her family. An interagency team, including the family and providers develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), which is the heart of early childhood intervention. The IFSP is both a process and a document. It is a plan of services and support provided in natural environments.

The Minnesota Early Autism Project, Inc., is an in-home treatment program and clinic for young children with autism spectrum disorders based on the principles of Intensive Early Behavior Therapy. This approach is supported by controlled studies that have demonstrated IEBT produces lasting improvements in core symptoms of autism beyond the termination of therapy. It develops communicative speech and improved social relatedness in the majority of those treated. These procedures produce social interaction, communicative and cognitive abilities in 40% to 50% of children with autism that approach those of their typical peers (Sallows & Graupner, 2005). MEAP offers effective treatment with experienced leadership and carefully supervised therapy staff.
