More than 10 national autism leadership organizations have come together to form AutismCares, a nationwide disaster relief effort that will potentially assist thousands of Katrina families living with autism. To address the most immediate needs, ”AutismCares – Katrina” is coordinating support for the unique needs of families affected by autism through facilitating temporary / permanent relocation support, mobilizing specialty assistance teams and providing autism-conscious supplies directly to these families and the professionals caring for them. |

EDUCATION: Programs are developed to educate families & professionals on child and adolescent neurobiological, emotional, or behavioral differences. The programs address a range of issues which families face in the home. In addition to educational services and available community resources, we provide information on meetings, seminars, specific disorders, and the most recent research findings. RESOURCE LIBRARY: Library of books, pamphlets, brochures, videos and other information is available to parents and professionals. ADVOCACY: Works to improve services across service delivery systems for children with neurobiological, emotional, or behavioral differences. |

AUCD formerly UAP(University Affiliated Programs) are authorized by federal legislation to help States and local communities respond to the needs of people with developmental disabilities and their families.(AUCDs) serve as a liaison between the academic world and the developmental disabilities service delivery system. AUCDs network with and provide assistance to State Agencies, their local affiliates, and to various nongovermental consumer-based organizations. Most AUCDs provide direct clinical, educational, and other services to individuals and families, or can assist families in finding services. |
