The Arc of Multnomah County was created in 1953 by parents and concerned individuals looking for avenues and opportunities to provide better lives for their family members with mental retardation and other related developmental disabilities.

The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law is a national legal advocate for people with mental disabilities. Through precedent-setting litigation and in the public policy arena, the Bazelon Center works to advance and preserve the rights of people with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities.

Bridgeway House is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization helping children and families by providing treatments, courses, and support to families and individuals affected by autism and related disabilities. This organization was created in 2002 by Patricia A. Wigney, a dedicated parent who traveled the Pacific Northwest in search of resources to help her autistic daughter. After four years of gathering information and resources she decided to assemble a group of parents and professionals to bring life altering services to one location in her community. Her dream was to have treatments, courses, information, and support easily accessible to the autism community.

The Oregon Institute on Disability & Development has a 30 year history of working to improve quality of life for people with disabilities and their families. We embrace the right of the persons with disabilities to determine the course of their lives and to live as fully integrated, contributing members of their communities. We are part of a network of more than 60 University Centers of Excellence on Developmental Disabilities located at major universities throughout the United States. We function as a bridge to connect the knowledge, expertise and resources of the university to persons with disabilities and the service delivery systems of the community.

Easter Seals Oregon provides services to children and adults with disabilities and other special needs, helping them to live with equality, dignity and independence.

Our Mission: To increase public understanding of epilepsy and help people with seizure disorders improve their quality of life. We have four full-time staff members. The Learning Disabilities Association of Oregon works to promote the welfare of children and adults with learning disabilities. LDA of Oregon, affiliated with the national Learning Disabilities Association of America, is a non-profit organization that serves as a resource, referral, and information center for adults with learning disabilities, parents of children with learning disabilities, and professionals working in the field of learning disabilities.

Jonah & The Whale Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit that helps families of disabled and chronically ill children The foundation provides parents with binders and resource materials to encourage organization of medical and educational information and to further encourage better communication between all parties involved. The foundation also has a mobile & web library with books about many diseases and disabilities for parents to use or even purchase at low cost, a collection of durable medical equipment is also available for parents who have exhausted every avenue to obtain insurance coverage, and finally the foundation offers emotional support for the parents and siblings as well as family networking for parents to meet others in similar circumstances. J&TWF distributes family support and education through specific brochures and web pages for moms, dads, and siblings. Issues include ways for mothers to protect themselves from difficult hospitals and challenging physicians, encouragement for fathers to become more knowledgeable about and more involved with their special needs child, as well as suggestions for parents to include and support the needs of their well children.

For over 25 years, MAINSTREAM has been advocating for disability rights. Produced by, for, and about people with disabilities, MAINSTREAM covers news & current affairs, new products & technology, profiles of movers & shakers, education, employment, sexuality & relationships, housing, transportation, travel & recreation.

The ADS Central Office is responsible for advocacy, planning, community relations, and administrative support for the agency. The Helpline, Gatekeeper, Veteran's Services and Public Guardian programs are also located in the Central Office.

OAC is an independent non-profit organization which provides legal advocacy services for people with disabilities anywhere in Oregon. OAC is designated under federal law as the protection and advocacy system for Oregon, but it is not a part of the state or federal government. OAC has attorneys and advocates who assist people with disabilities.

We do not accept members affiliated with school districts due to confidentiality or a conflict of interest. Oregon Parents United is a support/advocacy group for parents of children with disabilities in the State of Oregon. Our jump start team was comprised of parents with children who had Asperger Syndrome and our focus has been children with hidden disabilities.
