Established as Berks County Chapter for Retarded Children (later name changed to Berks County Chapter for Retarded Citizens; Association for Retarded Citizens, Berks County; to current - The Arc of Berks County). Provided preschool programs, residential and sheltered employment opportunities until 1979 when Arc staff created a new agency, Prospectus Associates,Inc., direct services were spun-off. Current focus is Advocacy - supports provided to individuals, families and agencies. A Board of Directors guides the organization.

We are a fee-paid service. We help you prepare for IEP or other school meetings, write letters, or attend meetings with you. We also review IEP's, 504 Service Agreements and show you ways to improve these documents. We also provide speech therapy, occupational therapy, social learning classes, as well as a full summer program. We are licensed by the state of PA to provide tutoring services as well.

The Drexel Autism Centerprovides comprehensive evaluations as well as participation in NIH-funded treatment studies appropriate for children diagnosed with PDD/autism. Long term follow up is also available.

This proactive initiative combines Child Care, Early Intervention, and Head Start with the intent to establish classroom environments (academic and social) that support and combine children from all three programs. ECEP sites have been established at River's Chase, Once Upon A Time at Reading High School, and Muhlenberg Gold in the C.E. Cole building of the Muhlenberg School District.

Easter Seals Eastern Pennsylvania provides services to more than 2,700 adults and children with physical disabilities and developmental delay, including people affected by conditions like cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, fetal alcohol syndrome and maternal drug addiction.

Educational Options is a Comprehensive Educational Consultation Service assisting families in finding boarding schools and programs for troubled or struggling teens. Parents are often unaware of the wonderful out-of-home options that are availabe for their struggling children

At Epona Unlimited we provide Hippotherapy and Therapeutic Riding to individuals who live at all parts of the Autism Spectrum. We are also able to provide mainstream horseback riding for siblings, relatives and caregivers in need of the healing and balancing power of horses. Sessions offered year round at locations in Kennett Square, Pottstown and Pennsburg, PA.

The Vanguard School offers a six-week ESY program for students, ages 6 - 21, with ASD who qualify for extended school year services on their IEP. The program balances academics with enrichment activities that focus on self-regulation and social skills training and support.

Provide behavioral health programs for children 0-21, as well as operate a intensive family therapy program called Extra Mile for Families. In addition, operate Milestones Achievement Centers (MAC) which educate complex learners including, autism and severely emotionally disturbed. Milestones also runs a Therapeutic Activities Summer Camp for children diagnosed with autism or related disorders. Pace School is a private, non-profit day school, licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the State Board of Private Academic Schools. The students who attend Pace School make this a very special place. The variety of ages and "the story" that each child brings, together, make for an exciting and rich experience for all involved. Pace’s students are in elementary or middle school, and range in age from 5 to 15; have the diagnosis of Serious Emotional Disturbance, Pervasive Developmental Delay/Autism, or Neurological Impairment; may also have disorders such as ADD, ADHD and/or psychiatric diagnoses; are referred from more than 50 school districts in southwestern Pennsylvania; and represent the diversity of the area. Pace School was founded more than 30 years ago, in 1967. Throughout the years, it has grown and developed in response to its students’ needs. Today, the School has the capacity to serve 180 children.

PLEA offers center-based and in-home services for children from age 3-14 with developmental and or behavioral difficutlies. Intervention is highly specialized and individualized to meet a child and family's unique needs. PLEA also offers summer camp and respite care.

Progress Listening Center helps children with Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, or ADD/ADHD by offering EnListen, the newest patented program available to improve listening, auditory processing, and sensory integration. Developed by Sound Listening Corporation who is chaired by Dr. Billie Thompson, EnListen provides families an in-home choice once the initial evaluation is done. Dr. Thompson was the pioneer who brought Tomatis to the U.S. EnListen takes the benefits of Tomatis many steps further by improving Bone Conduction interference and increasing all processing of sounds necessary to produce word sounds, body coordination and receptive language.
