The Rhode Island Assistive Technology Act Project (P.L. 105-394) is designed as a statewide partnership of organizations and agencies, each with a targeted assistive technology focus, working together providing information and improving access to assistive technology for individuals with disabilities.

ATAP works closely with other state projects related to national and regional advocacy for assistive technology access.

The Autism Spectrum Differences Institute of New England is a non-profit organization. We provide consultation and training, and collaborate in research partnerships, with schools, families, other nonprofits or public agencies, and institutions of higher learning, and community services.

One of the most complex tasks both parents and professionals face is developing and implementing an effective language intervention for children with autism. Parents and professionals are finding that BOTH Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET), together with the help of Skinner's (1957) Functional Analysis of Verbal Behavior to be very effective for children with autism. This is commonly referred to as Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB)which is a specialty within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). More than 10 national autism leadership organizations have come together to form AutismCares, a nationwide disaster relief effort that will potentially assist thousands of Katrina families living with autism.

Boston ABA holds contracts with many school districts in Massachusetts. When working with school districts, we keep all parties involved. The goal of school-funded home programs is to extend the work being accomplished at the school into the home. That is, we promote generalization of skills across both environments through consultation with the classroom teachers and parents

Psychiatric services for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. Inpatient, day, residential, home-based, and outpatient services are provided by multidisciplinary staff members including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, special education teachers, physical therapists, and psychiatrric nurses.

The Developmental Disabilities Program is a unique and highly specialized clinical service for children and adolescents between the ages of 4 and 22 years who show signs of serious emotional and behavioral problems in addition to a developmental disability, such as autism or mental retardation. The program offers a variety of clinical services including: Inpatient, Day patient, Residential, Home-based, Outpatient care and Research. The program's staff is highly experienced and professionally trained in the area of developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders. The Developmental Disabilities Program's model of care emphasizes family involvement as well as continuity of care across its various treatment settings. Regardless of where a patient is transferred within the program (inpatient, day, residential, home-based or outpatient), the treatment team remains unchanged. Patients and their families keep the same doctors, nurses, social workers, therapists and teachers. The continuum of care model results in a seamless transition of patients across treatment settings. We believe that continuity of care is critical to effective treatment and that it is among the key factors responsible for producing favorable treatment outcomes.
