The Family Resource Center for Disabilities and Special Needs, Inc. is a not for profit organization located in Charleston, South Carolina, providing information services throughout the Lowcountry. The Rocky Mountain Disability & Business Technical is one of 10 regional centers funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), a division of the U.S. Department of Education. Our mission is to provide technical assistance, materials, training, and referrals on the Americans with Disabilities Act and on accessible education-based information technology. Our region covers the states of Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

The South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Surveillance Program (SCDDSP) is a population-based investigation, modeled after the CDC Metropolitan Atlanta Developmental Disabilities Surveillance Program. Information from both clinical and nonclinical sources will be used to establish the rate of autism spectrum disorders in the study region. The investigators are members of the Departments of Pediatrics and Epidemiology and College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). The study will begin with 8-year-old children.
