ARCH of the Upper Valley is a parent organization dedicated to creating, providing and advocating for improved resources for individuals with ASD in the Upper Valley region of NH and VT. Service include a monthly support group, parent education sessions, online newsletter, after school recreational programs, a lending "library" of OT equipment, books and manuals, and individual resource consultation for parents and caregivers. The ASVT is a non-profit corporation serving the needs of the Vermont's Autism community. Our membership is comprised of individuals with ASD, their families, friends and service providers.

The Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate Program is designed for teachers, counselors, speech-language pathologists, special education teachers and administrators, psychologists, advocates, and parents in need of additional training to develop expertise in autism spectrum disorders to better perform their professional role with individuals/families on the spectrum. The faculty is an exciting, strong team of leading professionals; many of whom are nationally and internationally known for their books, presentations and work in the field. This will be a part-time program taught one weekend a month over nine-months starting in late August. It allows working professionals to commute to Antioch New England once a month to pursue classes.

One of the most complex tasks both parents and professionals face is developing and implementing an effective language intervention for children with autism. Parents and professionals are finding that BOTH Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET), together with the help of Skinner's (1957) Functional Analysis of Verbal Behavior to be very effective for children with autism. This is commonly referred to as Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB)which is a specialty within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). It is a place where parents and professionals running home (and school) programs can discuss concerns and share their knowledge of this type of teaching.

More than 10 national autism leadership organizations have come together to form AutismCares, a nationwide disaster relief effort that will potentially assist thousands of Katrina families living with autism.

To address the most immediate needs, ”AutismCares – Katrina” is coordinating support for the unique needs of families affected by autism through facilitating temporary / permanent relocation support, mobilizing specialty assistance teams and providing autism-conscious supplies directly to these families and the professionals caring for them.
