Mothers With Asperger's Syndrome Kids. M.A.S.K. is a gathering of mothers, in the Denver, Colorado metro area, whose children have been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Dads are welcome too! We communicate via email to our members and members can arrange get togethers, get notification of conferences, and share resources and ideas.

We offer outpatient occupational therapy with a specialty in treating sensory processing disorders (SPD), neurological and motor disorders with sensory integration (SI), neuro-developmental treatment (NDT), hippotherapy, as well as other motor-based treatments to work on everyday life activities and motor skills in a fun interactive environment.

We raise awareness in our community around Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) by supporting affected families, individuals and professionals touched by ASD. Through education and community service we assist in positive long-term outcomes and quality of life for ASD individuals. ASBC provides on-going community awareness, education and support by conducting a free lecture series and support group throughout the academic school year. Our Autism Faces & Voices program allows us to go into our community and conduct general awareness programs to educate society in general regarding Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as the needs and value the ASD population brings to our communities. ASBC also has a lending library of autism specific books for loan to our community to assist in their education. One of the most complex tasks both parents and professionals face is developing and implementing an effective language intervention for children with autism. Parents and professionals are finding that BOTH Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Training (NET), together with the help of Skinner's (1957) Functional Analysis of Verbal Behavior to be very effective for children with autism. This is commonly referred to as Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB)which is a specialty within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). It is a place where parents and professionals running home (and school) programs can discuss concerns and share their knowledge of this type of teaching.
