The Camp ASCCA Mission is to help children and adults with disabilities achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence. This is to be accomplished through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation, and education in a year-round barrier-free environment. Our goal is to serve those who can derive maximum benefit from the resident camp experience and provide a healthier, happier, longer, and more productive life for children and adults of all abilities. Camp ASCCA will also accent "reverse mainstreaming" by including non-disabled persons with disabled persons in the resident camping experience to facilitate the sharing of information and programs of advocacy

The Exceptional Foundation is a non-profit organization which began 15 years ago with five mentally challenged individuals. Today, the foundation serves approximately 250 individuals, with a year-round calendar of programs. Our mission is to meet the social and recreational needs of the mentally and/or physically challenged individuals in the Greater Birmingham Area. Our programs consist of arts, crafts, sporting events, exercise classes, dances, movie nights, girl scouts, music therapy, dog therapy, and many more activities.

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst is on staff to develop, oversee and assist in implementing all therapy. We are able to integrate a variety of therapy options depending on the functional level of the individual child to meet developmental goals. Our staff implements techniques proven to be effective strategies for children with developmental delays. Premier Collaboration Child Development Center offers a unique blending of discrete trials, inclusion and incidental teaching strategies based on findings from testing upon program intake and assessments including GARS, DP-3,ABLLS, DOCS, and DAYC to identify and address the deficits of each child. In addition, we contract services from an experienced Speech and Language Pathologist, a Psychologist, Special Education Teacher and utilize other resources in our community. Our emphasis is utilizing the scientifically proven techniques as taken from the research.
One of the services that sets us apart is our incorporation of typical peers and the typical preschool environment. Our clients are embedded in a classroom with their peers to develop social interaction, appropriate play and to generalize skills. Premier Collaborations service children through the first grade and implements curriculum which exceeds the guidelines of the Alabama State Board of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and has received SACS accreditation. Premier Collaborations offers services in the all settings including the home. Training is provided to families and others, including other professionals working with your child. Progress Listening Center helps children with Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, or ADD/ADHD by offering EnListen, the newest patented program available to improve listening, auditory processing, and sensory integration. Developed by Sound Listening Corporation who is chaired by Dr. Billie Thompson, EnListen provides families an in-home choice once the initial evaluation is done. Dr. Thompson was the pioneer who brought Tomatis to the U.S. EnListen takes the benefits of Tomatis many steps further by improving Bone Conduction interference and increasing all processing of sounds necessary to produce word sounds, body coordination and receptive language.
