At AbilityFirst, our vision is of a society that values each individual and provides the opportunity for all people to lead full and productive lives. For more than 80 years, we have been looking beyond disabilities, focusing on capabilities, and expanding possibilities.

To achieve that vision, we offer a broad range of programs and services to help children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities realize their full potential throughout their lives, including employment, recreational and socialization programs. We also operate 11 accessible housing complexes.

Areas of Focus: Evaluation/Treatment of ADD/ADHD, low achievers, autism/Aspergers, dyslexia, learning disabilities, poor study habits. Tutoring. Indivdual courses for credits.

AEFCT provides high quality ABA services that are structured, comprehensive, and individualized. Our mission is to provide intervention to children with autism, putting the needs of each child first so that they are met fairly and appropriately.

Ala Costa is a state of the art after-school learning center for students with developmental disabilities such as Autism, Down Syndrome, and mental retardation. Students participate in center-based and community learning activities throughout the year.

Arc Ventura County is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1954 that provides educational, vocational and residential services for people with developmental disabilities.

Variety of services available. Scheduled appointments for sibling/ parent support groups, social skills groups and some training sessions. All other services available by appointment including home and school consultation and program design, child tutoring programs, and additional training opportunities.

UCLA has played a unique role in the history of research on autism. In the 1950’s, considerably before other major universities, UCLA had an active research program concerned with characterizing children with autism. The research and treatment conducted over the past 50 years at UCLA has set the standard for many of the research and treatment models currently used to understand autism and optimize the treatment of individuals with autism.

The inception of the UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) is an exciting advancement particularly for the new and upcoming generation of autism researchers. It is my hope that the establishment of the Center will concentrate our efforts, lead to collaborations across disciplines and facilitate better understandings of the mechanisms underlying autism.
