The ABRITE Organization is dedicated to improving the lives of young learners with the use of early intensive intervention services based on the principles of applied behavior analysis. We view each child as an individual and develop an educational curriculum that addresses the learner’s unique strengths while remedying deficits. This goal is achieved solely with the use of empirically supported methodologies as we believe further development and dissemination of validated practices will be the way by which families and science can unite to improve the lives of children with autism and related developmental delays.

The Autism Research Group is a partnership of parents of children with autism and other pervasive developmental disabilities and professionals from a wide variety of disciplines involved in research and program development in special education.

UCLA has played a unique role in the history of research on autism. In the 1950’s, considerably before other major universities, UCLA had an active research program concerned with characterizing children with autism. The research and treatment conducted over the past 50 years at UCLA has set the standard for many of the research and treatment models currently used to understand autism and optimize the treatment of individuals with autism.

The inception of the UCLA Center for Autism Research and Treatment (CART) is an exciting advancement particularly for the new and upcoming generation of autism researchers. It is my hope that the establishment of the Center will concentrate our efforts, lead to collaborations across disciplines and facilitate better understandings of the mechanisms underlying autism.

Since its founding, Cure Autism Now has committed over $25 million in research, the establishment and ongoing support of the Autism Genetic Resource Exchange (AGRE), and numerous outreach and awareness activities aimed at families, physicians, governmental officials and the general public.

Capitol Autism Services and it's sister companies, Land Park Academy and The Listening Clinic, are all located in the Greater Sacramento Area and provide services to children with autism and their families. Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. (CARD) is among the world's largest and most experienced organizations effectively treating children with autism and related disorders.

The Center for Autism Research, directed by Dr. Eric Courchesne, is renowned in the neurological study of autism and has published more than 120 articles on the brain and genetic basis of autism in the past 20 years. Our studies are funded through grants from the National Institutes of Health, private foundations and private donations. We are currently seeking participants for our toddler functional MRI and adult functional MRI projects.

Behavioral signs and symptoms of autism typically emerge in the first three years of life. We are currently using MRI to identify brain structure abnormalities in children with autism during this pivotal period of development, as well as to identify any functional processing differences. Identification of specific and consistent regions of abnormality in the youngest children may lead to earlier and more reliable diagnosis, as well as increased understanding of causal factors involved in autism.

We are especially in need of infants and toddlers so that we may look at possible brain differences at the earliest ages possible. Children between 12 and 48 months with or suspected of having autism spectrum disorder or who are typically developing are needed.
If you decide to join our research study, participation includes a psychological evaluation and diagnostic testing, a neurological examination, limited genetic testing (fragile x and chromosome analysis), and a MRI brain scan. There is no cost to participate, and reports are made available to parents from the psychologist, neurologist, and MRI. We also pay our families for their time spent with us.

As a research center, we are constantly evaluating current studies and discovering new avenues to investigate. We are undertaking studies of development from birth through the first years of life in siblings of autism. We are also working with pediatricians in San Diego to promote early identification of autism and referral for treatment. Additionally, we are conducting brain cell research that may help explain why the brain in autism grows abnormally fast during early life, and how that creates autistic behavior. The Child Development Clinic provides evaluation and treatment for children under 18 with developmental delays, learning problems, developmental disabilities and behavior problems. Clinic staffers include developmental-behavioral pediatricians, psychologists, a pediatric nurse practitioner and a social worker.

The Division of Neurology offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for a complete spectrum of childhood neurological and neuromuscular problems, involving the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord) or the peripheral nervous system (nerves, muscles and their connections). A major focus is the medical and surgical control of epilepsy. Each of our experienced pediatric neurologists is involved in the care of children with seizures. Our staff works closely with families to ensure a continuum of care at home.

The Division is actively engaged in the teaching of residents, medical students and hospital staff. Our physician-scientists conduct research into new drug and surgical treatments and publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals. We further assist in disseminating new knowledge in the field through participation in key national associations.

Children’s Autism Intervention Center serves children with autistic spectrum disorders, their families and caregivers, as well as professionals working in this area. Children's Hospital offers coordinated services for children with autism spectrum disorders as well as other behavior difficulties.

We have an in-home early intervention program based on applied behavior analysis (ABA). We also provide consultations and trainings to school districts.

I will provide respite care and treatment for kids and adults with autism. I am a professional who specializes in autism with 37 years of practical experience. I am willing to provide respite care for weekends or afternoon activities as well as provide nutritional diet and research along with my recent research. I am doing a study of candida albicans and the effects of older students with autism.

Dr. Alexander Gantman is a faculty member and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist at UCLA’s Semel Institute of Neuroscience and Human Behavior, in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as a faculty Autism Instructor at the UCLA Tarjan Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Gantman is also an Assisstant Director of the UCLA PEERS program: an evidence-based, caregiver-assisted, social skills group intervention. He attended UCLA and recieved his bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Highest Honors, and later a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from PGSP-Stanford University Consortium. He finished his clinical psychology internship at UCLA and a two-year post-doctoral NIH fellowship at UCLA. He is currently working on the adaptation and development of PEERS Social Skills Treatment Program to address unique needs of young adults and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders. His clinical and research interests include social skills and psychosocial functioning of adolescents and adults with Asperger's Disorder and High Functioning Autism.
