Based on research-supported techniques of animal assisted therapy all of our professional therapists work with a trained animal partner to accomplish therapeutic goals in a cost-effective and timely manner. Extreme Sports Camp welcomes people ages 7 and up with an autism spectrum disorder, including classic autism, PDD-NOS, Asperger's and related diagnoses. Participants of any athletic ability can succeed. We pride ourselves in ensuring progress in our sports while having lots of fun!

Our counselor-camper ratio is 1:1.
We accept up to 14 campers per session.
Each session is one week, and families can choose to enroll in multiple sessions.
Our summer activities take place throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
Our winter program is held on Snowmass Mountain.

Our staff receives extensive training in autism learning styles and characteristics. We use positive behavior approaches and communication supports such as social stories and visual schedules. Our staff also has expertise/certification in the sports we undertake. We apply the teaching theories that have proven effective with autism to these sports and have developed unique processes and technologies to maximize success.

Extreme Sports Camp was incorporated in 2004 and operates as a non-profit 501c3 organization, EIN # 20-0940000. Our co-founders are Sallie Bernard, president, and Doug Gilstrap, Senior Coach.

Applied behavior analysis is a very individualized treatment approach in which the behavior analyst takes detailed measurements of current skills and behaviors and designs a behavior plan to increase current skills (or build skills that are not present) and reduce or eliminate maladaptive or unwanted behaviors.
