The Arc of Connecticut is an advocacy organization committed to protecting the rights of people with intellectual, cognitive, and developmental disabilities and to promoting opportunities for their full inclusion in the life of their communities.

The State Board of Education believes each student is unique and needs an educational environment that provides for, and accommodates, his or her strengths and areas of needed improvement. The Board also believes that a unified and coordinated continuum of educational opportunities and supports serves and benefits all students.

The Council on Developmental Disabilities is a Governor-appointed body of people with disabilities, family members and professionals who work together to promote the full inclusion of people with disabilities in community life.

It is the mission of the Insurance Department to protect the consumer by administering and enforcing the insurance laws in the most responsive and cost effective manner to ensure the financial reliability and responsibility of all regulated entities.

The Connecticut State Department of Education is the administrative arm of the Connecticut State Board of Education. Through leadership, curriculum, research, planning, evaluation, assessment, data analyses and other assistance, the Department helps to ensure equal opportunity and excellence in education for all Connecticut students. The Department is responsible for distributing funds to the state’s 166 school districts. The Department also operates the Connecticut Technical High School System.

The mission of the Birth to Three System is to strengthen the capacity of families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infants and toddlers who have delays or disabilities. This is a State of Connecticut program.

The mission of the Office of Protection and Advocacy is to advance the cause of equal rights for persons with disabilities and their families by: increasing the ability of individuals, groups and systems to safeguard rights; exposing instances and patterns of discrimination and abuse; seeking individual and systemic remediation when rights are violated;
increasing public awareness of unjust situations and of means to address them; and empowering people with disabilities and their families to advocate effectively.

Support Group

Works with parents to obtain services their child needs from the school system and from state agencies. Analyzes child's records for needed documentation, connects parents with other professionals, helps parents establish documentation of needs if not currently in records. Knows laws, regulations, case law, school and agency procedures.

The Connecticut Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities is a regional, non-profit organization that supports individuals, families, and professionals by providing information, education, and consultation while promoting public awareness and understanding. CACLD's goal is to ensure access to the resources needed to help children and adults with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders achieve their full potential.
