In 1996, Advocates for Justice and Education, Inc. (AJE) was created as a mechanism to increase parental involvement in the education of children with special needs. A.J.E. uses parent empowerment as a model to address grave injustices in the delivery of services to meet the most basic special education needs.

AJE was formed to motivate and educate parents, and those working with parents about the laws that govern special education and related services, and the consequences of institutional negligence and/or inappropriate classification of students with special needs.

Are you looking for someone to serve as your private in-home educational consultant to create and implement a home program for you child with special needs? Do you need someone to help represent and speak on your behalf in IEP meetings, collaborate with other professionals and create a unique and individualized program for you child that will target academic and social skills goals?

I am passionate about being an educator and received my Masters Degree in Special Education. I have worked with a diverse group of children including those with: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, Down syndrome, speech impairments and communication devices, noncompliant behavior, learning disabilities, sensory integration issues and physical challenges.

My greatest capability is facilitating children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, across the spectrum. I have training in both Applied Behavioral Analysis and Discrete Trial Training, as well as training in Stanley Greenspan's DIR/Floortime Model. I believe that my knowledge in these differing therapeutic methods has allowed me to integrate principles from both philosophies to create the most comprehensive and individual educational and social/emotional plan for a child. I have had tremendous success using this blended approach, and I collaborate frequently with other professionals from diverse backgrounds to infuse my treatments plans with the best of what is available in the field.

I have recently moved from Chicago to the DC area. While in Chicago, I consulted with multiple families serving as their educational consultant. I wrote home programs, trained line therapists and play partners, measured and reported client's progress through data collection and quarterly progress reports (submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement on behalf of client), coached parents on play (Greenspans' Floortime stages), led playgroup sessions and facilitated peer dates as well as served as liaison between the client and other professionals as well as the child's school (IEP meetings and related school meetings).

References and fees available upon request. Call (425) 442-0625 or respond via email for a confidential consultation. Look forward to hearing from you!
