These services are all accessible in one building or from one phone call. A single contact can direct individuals or families to the most appropriate services and supports to meet their needs. AUCDs network with and provide assistance to State Agencies, their local affiliates, and to various nongovermental consumer-based organizations. PTI is a federally-funded grant project from the U.S. Department of Education. PTI provides training and information that meets the needs of parents of children with disabilities in Iowa. We focus particularly on underserved families and parents of children who may be inappropriately identified. PTI provides training opportunities on the Individuals with Disabilities Eduction Act (IDEA) of 1997. This training makes clear the availability of, and how to effectively use proceedural safegards under IDEA '97, including alternative methods of dispute resolution, as described in the Act. PTI assists parents to better understand their children's disability and educational development. |
