The Department of Health and Welfare is organized into Regions to provide programs that foster a productive, healthful and independent quality of life for Idaho citizens. Statewide administrative offices are located in Boise. Each Region serves several counties.

We offer programs that deal with complex social, economic and individual issues. They range from Medicaid to Food Stamps, Child Protection to Disease Prevention. Last year, we helped almost 340,000 people in our state, one out of every four Idahoans.

Lee Pesky Learning Center strengthens literacy (reading, writing, and math) in the community with an emphasis on helping those with learning disabilities. We achieve our mission by providing research-based: assessment, literacy instruction, and counseling to individuals and small groups; consultation and training to schools and educators to improve the literacy of all children; literacy resources (books, curricula, classes,
tools) to children, families, and communities.
