The mission of Arc BRIDGES is to improve the welfare of persons with mental retardation and their families. This mission includes the provision of support, training and care through day services, residential programs and social services that help people with all levels of mental retardation develop skills and abilities that assist their movement toward more integration, independence and happiness.

The mission further includes participation and leadership in local, state and national organizations and the provision of education programs which actively promote understanding and respect of the rights, problems and needs of persons with mental retardation.

The Arc of Indiana, formed as a statewide organization in 1956,
advocates on behalf of people with mental retardation and related disabilities and their families.

A support group for parents of children, teens, and young adults with Asperger Syndrome, high-functioning autism, and PDD-NOS. Presentations by autism professionals. Educators, grandparents, and other concerned adults are welcome.

Our mission is to increase and broaden public knowledge and awareness of the behaviors, social issues and emotional needs of individuals on the autism spectrum so that all individuals can participate in and contribute to our community without fear or bias or loss of individuality.

Evaluation and assessment of possible PDD's. A systems approach to working with family and community to provide support and guidance in the areas of Autism and other behavior disorders. Individual,group,family and couples counseling for those affected by ASDs, including parents, siblings and high functioning individuals on the spectrum. Parent skills training on behavior modification and skills acquisition. Behavior consultation and training in the community setting.

The AETC provides parent and advocate training through a three-tiered training and certification program (details available online). Sheila Wolfe, the Executive Director, also provides direct consulting services to families regarding appropriate special education programs for children with disabilities in the public schools. The AETC is working to open an Early Intervention School for 3-7 year old children with devlopmental disabilities.

The Autism Society of Indiana (ASI) is dedicated to Autism Advocacy and Awareness, Support (for individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals that work with them), and to provide Information about autism to the public. ASI is a state chapter of the Autism Society of America (ASA).

State Of Indiana Ombudsman for the DD population. Receives, investigates, and attempts to resolve complaints made by or on behalf of DD individuals served by a Medicaid Waiver.

Recognizing that children come with a broad spectrum of learning abilities and styles, we continually strive to meet the individual needs of our students for instruction, sensory integration, motor function, cognitive development, language acquisition and functional communication skills, social skills, boundary setting, proprioception, and introspective emotional self-control. Our staff is up to date in their knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Montessori Method. Licensed Special Education Teachers in every classroom. Serving Children ages 18 months-10 years.

CeDIR has a lending library of approximately 8,000 books, kits, videos, and DVDs that are available to borrow by anyone in Indiana. Also on our website you will find Resources Guides, disability Information and a Kids site dedicated to disability awareness.

The Central Indiana Chapter -ASA was founded in 1976. Its unique significance to Indiana is that it’s a strong voice of advocacy within the local Autism Community in Central Indiana. With its mission to lead in the development and promotion of services to meet the needs of people on the Autism Spectrum: by increasing public Awareness, providing information to improve social, economic and legislative issues; and by advocating for progress in research & treatment studies of Autism, the CIC-ASA is a significant player and contributor to its membership and community.

A not-for-profit coalition of many statewide, regional and local organizations representing volunteers, advocates, providers and consumers of programs for people with disabilities.

ICOIL oversees independent living services throughout the state and works with the Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Disability, Aging and Rehabilitative Services toward developing a state plan for independent living. Members of ICOIL are appointed by the Governor. There are eight centers for independent living in Indiana that provide advocacy, information and referral, training and peer counseling.
