The site originated in early 2007 as a small Midwestern support site, due to no resources in my region. As a parent of a child with autism; you are their investigator, their advocate, their voice. I felt strongly that others should not have to become an investigator at a time of their child's diagnosis like I had to for my child. We are going through enough, the last thing we need is more stress! Why not document all my findings (Info) into a website so others could benefit, while providing support. We are now nearing 2009 and I find myself providing national/international support to thousands of families. Together In Autism quickly developed into a national/international resource (support & information). Our lives are so hectic and we are trying to make them much better for everyone. We have been told that the rapid success and high volume of use is due to: providing a personal touch, no fees, 100% free, no membership required, no sign up required as well as the realm of topics that are covered in one location. I am just a mother and advocate doing all that I can do for my child and helping others along the way. I have been busy holding a cities very first autism walk in April of 2008. I am involved in a project to increase the education of autism within our schools (teachers & staff) as well as within the general community. Together In Autism was literally front and center at the Green Our Vaccines Rally in Washington D.C. on June 4th of 2008. We have been interviewed by several national venues. We received national exposure (rally photo) in People Magazine's June 23rd issue. We are a featured resource through many international websites. Am a Rescue Angel as well. I have a bi-weekly radio program to air on Autism One Radio. We want to help as many people as we can, it will never be enough. We are a non-profit, doantions and advertising from the public helps support our cause. Donations are NOT tax deductible. We hope that you the public will be a continuing part of our efforts.
