I have a strong passion for using applied behavior analysis in the field of education, especially in communication/verbal behavior, play, and social skills. I love working with families, caretakers, and school staff to bring about lasting change and improvement in the lives of children! I provide consultation services for young children and their families seeking early intensive behavioral intervention in Johnson County, eastern Douglas County, and northern Miami County in Kansas. I am willing to travel farther, depending on whether or not I have other clients in the area or close to the area I am requested (CURRENTLY, I am also available to work in the North Kansas City area).
I design and implement behavioral interventions for young children with developmental and behavioral disabilities; develop curriculum to train parents, tutors, paraprofessionals, implementers in methods and strategies of interventions as well as data collection; run team meetings and workshops related to specific needs of each child; Programs I design include but are not limited to: verbal communication, independence, social skills, self-help skills, leisure skills, academics. I also participate in developing Individualized Education Plans and have experience working with Educational Advocates

Since the 1990 enactment of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), there has been a strong call nationally for change in education at all levels to include students with autism. The Teachers College at Emporia State University has long been an institution devoted to improving lives through educational opportunities and an initiator of instruction which focuses on the unique needs of individual learners.
The Kansas Resource Center on Autism (KRCA), funded by the Kansas Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, provides the opportunity for Kansas to obtain information, consultation or training on topics related to autism including: family support, education, services and research.

KRCA will provide information to seekers through two functions: a Clearinghouse on Autism located in the Teachers College Resource Center; and, courses and specially scheduled workshops held on the ESU campus. The faculty and staff at The Teachers College are committed to promoting understanding of autism through providing information to families, peers, public school educators, related service providers and others who provide day-to-day supports for individuals with autism across the life-span.
