A non-profit organization, AE was founded in 1978 to address the environmental issues that confront people with disabilities and elderly people. Adaptive Environments promotes accessibility as well as universal design through education programs, technical assistance, training, consulting, publications and design advocacy. Its mission is to promote, facilitate, and advocate for international adoption of policies and designs that enable every individual, regardless of disability or age, to participate fully in all aspects of society.

The Mission of The Arc of Massachusetts is to enhance the lives of individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities and their families. We accomplish this through advocacy of supports and services based in the community.

The Language & Cognitive Development Center of Newton is known for the Miller Method, a cognitive-developmental systems approach for children on the autism spectrum. The Center provides Parent-Child Training, Diagnostic services, professional training as well as individual therapy sessions. Through its videoconferencing program it serves schools and families in the United States and other countries.

The Asperger's Association of New England (AANE)'s mission is to foster awareness, respect, acceptance, and support for individuals with AS and related conditions and their families.

This group was created to help all people who live in the State of Massachusetts who are touched by autism. Autism in Massachusetts also allows anyone who lives in Rhode Island or Connecticut to join.

The Autism Resource Center was conceived in 1996 by a group of parents to serve primarily as an information and referral service for children and families affected by disorders within the Autism Spectrum; Autism, PDD NOS and Asperger's. The Center services DMR Region II. This encompasses North Central, Worcester, and South Valley areas. All totaled there are 63 towns within the Autism Resource Center's service area. Parents who live outside the area are also welcome to access the center.


This program is funded in part by the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR) and administered by HMEA, Inc. The Autism Resource Center is a family governed project and is overseen by a Family Steering Committee made up of parents who represent the concerns and ideas of families from the five geographical areas within the service region. The fundraising activities of the Steering Committee augments the funding provided by the state.

ASA chapters are operated by parents or professionals who volunteer to share their knowledge of local school systems, doctors, and other services. Many chapters offer informative newsletters and host regular support group meetings. These chapters are often the best place a parent can go to get help from the real experts-other parents! ASC provides information & referral, parent and sibling support groups, parent and professional training, lending library, quarterly newsletter and monthly e-bulletin, social skills program in NOrtheastern MA.

Boston Families for Autism, Inc. (BFA) strives to provide quality services for families who have children with autism. We are a resource and referral organization comprised of Boston area parents with autistic children.

Our goal is to provide local support services in the community which include support groups, mentorships, recreational activities, training and information on various services in the Boston area.

BFA's focus is primarily on inner-city families who are looking for services for their children.

Inclusion and empowerment are key as BFA strives to educate families and the community about autism.

Caretrak Home Care provides in home child care services to disabled, handicapped or developmentally challenged children. Respite and sitter services available for both sick or well children.

Provide private behavioral therapy and consultation for children with developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders. Services include case consultation and training in the home, and early childhood and school-based programs, behavioral assessments and the development and implementation of behavioral intervention plans. Also provide training on ASDs to various groups.

The Child Development Network is a team of pediatric healthcare professionals who help children, adolescents, and their parents to address difficulties with development, learning, behavior and/or self-control.

Children Making Strides is an organization that was begun by the mother of an autistic child. In her efforts to help her child she discovered that there was a tremendous need for services and information for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and their parents. At Children Making Strides we believe that there is hope for all of our children, and that each child deserves the opportunity to reach his or her full potential, and that potential should have no limits. We also believe that parents need support, information, and encouragement in their efforts to help their child. Our parent support programs provide resources from which they can exchange ideas, get information and provide support to each other. Through our parent support groups, training seminars and mentoring program there is always a place that a parent can find help and encouragement.

Clinical Art Associates provide creative facilitation of social relationships. We serve a wide range of individuals who display social skills deficits, which may be due to social impact diagnoses or developmental disabilities. Our program provides children and adolescents the opportunity to utilize creative experiences for processing feelings, thoughts, relationships, and behaviors. Art activities encourage the child/adolescent to explore social and emotional challenges in a safe and non-threatening environment, thus allowing for development of positive interactions with peer groups and family members.

Community Resources was founded in 1989 by families of children with autism to assist families, individuals, schools, and agencies throughout Western Massachusetts concerned with the welfare of children with autism.
