Although Abilities Network has been providing services to children with autism and their families for years through our Project ACT, Family Support Services, and Community & Employment Partners programs, our new Autism Waiver services specifically address the challenges faced by children with autism and their families. The specific areas addressed under Abilities Network�s new Autism Waiver services include Intensive Individual Support Services, and Family Training. Within these categories, families have access to the sort of hands-on services needed to allow their children to achieve at their maximum level in all areas of their lives. Autism centered trainings and services for a child and their family may focus specifically on behavior shaping and management, daily living skills, socialization, mobility, and self-direction.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), authorized in 1975 and reauthorized most recently in 1997, supports efforts to provide coordinated service delivery systems for children with disabilities from birth through age 5.
