Parent centers in each state provide training and information to parents of infants, toddlers, school-aged children, and young adults with disabilities and the professionals who work with their families. This assistance helps parents participate more effectively with professionals in meeting the educational needs of children and youth with disabilities. Parent centers are funded by the U.S. Department of Education, under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

The Maine PTA is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in Maine. A not-for-profit organization of parents, educators, students, and other citizens active in their schools and communities, the PTA is a leader in reminding our state of its obligation to children. Membership in the Maine PTA is open to anyone who is concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

SKILLS, Inc. is a non-profit organization in Maine that helps all people with intellectual disabilities and other challenges to achieve their goals through employment, residential, and supportive services, and through educating the public to eliminate barriers.

We train service dogs for kids on the spectrum. We have trained dogs professional for 21 years and have a child with autism, who uses a service dog daily. We work with OT, ST, DT and speciality schools providing intervention with our dogs in training, that are ready for placement.
