The Hands-On Parent Education (HOPE) Center offers both center-based and less-intensive behavioral therapy for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. We also provide behavioral therapy for families of children who have difficulties with behavior management, feeding, toileting, sleeping, and other referral concerns. The HOPE Center is part of Beaumont's Center for Human Development, and as such has access to psychiatry services and a multidisciplinary diagnostic team. The HOPE Center also offers parent support programming and educational lectures.

Children's Hospital of Michigan's Autism Center provides Comprehensive Evaluation including Neurology, Speech and Language and Psychological Examination. We have many treatment services including Behavioral Consultation for children of any age and any disability in the home or community, a center based Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention (EIBI) program for children ages 2-6 , and a Summer Camp for children ages 5-10 with special needs. The HOPE Center provides both center-based and outpatient treatment by licensed psychologists trained in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA). Nancy Kaufman is an international speaker on apraxia, and developing verbal skills in late talkers. She has authored materials to assist parents and professionals working with children with apraxia. She has collaborated with Tamara Kasper to create "Sign 'n Say", using a VB approach. This child/family friendly center supports the sensory, motor, speech, language & social development of children. Local, national, and international families are welcomed to this Michigan location.

I am available to design and implement home ABA (applied behavior analysis) programs for children with autism and other developmental conditions. In addition to home ABA work, I am also available for several other services. For clients of any age or ability level, I can provide ABA-based academic tutoring, particularly in the areas of math (through high school level), science, and English. I would also be happy to analyze specific problem behaviors or skill deficits and design appropriate interventions.

I currently have a TLLP (temporary limited license in psychology) and am working on getting my LLP (limited license in psychology). A fully licensed Ph.D. in psychology is supervising my work. My master's degree (from Eastern Michigan University) is in Clinical Behavioral Psychology and my bachelor's degree is in biology. For my master's thesis I designed, implemented, and evaluated an intervention to teach question-asking skills to two autistic children and to help them generalize these skills through naturalistic instruction.

I have eleven years' experience working in home ABA programs with children with autism and other developmental disabilities (ranging in ages from two and a half years to 12 years), and have recently started developing home programs for young children with autism. I also have experience with academic tutoring for clients with and without developmental or learning disabilities, including older children, gifted children, adolescents, and some adults.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with a Masters degree from the University of Iowa. I have over 20 years experience providing therapeutic interventions for special populations of children, adolescents and young adults in school and clinical settings. My areas of expertise include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated neurological and psychological conditions. The therapeutic focus of my work includes the following.
