@WORK HelpingHands Services is a provider of non-medical companionship and caregiver services in New Jersey, focusing on Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Our services include companionship, respite, light housekeeping, transportation, errand services and personal monitoring systems. We are a DDD-approved Real Life Choices provider. Our employees are insured, bonded, drug screened, have passed criminal background checks, and are sensitive to eldercare and disability issues.

The school serves approximately 105 students ages 3-21 from 10 counties in Northern and Central New Jersey. Approximately 75 children and adults are served though our outreach, respite, and adult services departments.

Jewish Family and Children's Service (JFCS) of Southern New Jersey is dedicated to helping people successfully meet the challenges of daily life. We are a non-profit human services agency that provides quality, affordable and accessible social services to Jewish individuals and families in need. Matheny Medical and Educational Center is a teaching hospital and a premier facility for people of all ages with developmental disabilities. Matheny specializes in the care of children and adults with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida and Lesch-Nyhan Disease.

The Project Child Family Support Program provided over 4,000 hours of respite to the families of children with disabilities during the 1999-2000 school year. Respite care took place in the home or at the Saturday On-Site Program at the Joseph F. Cappello School. Any student in Mercer County who has been identified as having a disability and is registered with the Special Child Health Services Unit is eligible to apply for respite care. All family support workers must complete a training program and a CPR certification course. The workers must also attend continuing education programs three (3) times during the year.

Art and Drama summer program for children ages 8-14 with Asperger's. The intent of the program is to teach social skills as well as have fun.

The NJ Statewide Respite Care Program has been operational since April of 1988. This program provides respite care services for elderly and functionally impaired persons 18 years of age and older to relieve their unpaid caregivers of stress arising from the responsibility of providing daily care. A secondary goal of the program is to provide the support necessary to help families avoid making nursing home placement of their relatives.

Private Respite Care; The Arc of Atlantic County improves the lives of people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities in our community. Through direct services, advocacy, education and prevention activities, we work in partnership with individuals and their families to make choices possible about how and where they live, learn, play and work.
