PRIMARY SERVICES PROVIDED: Local support group where parents can come together to share experiences and feelings with one another.

EDUCATION: Programs are developed to educate families & professionals on child and adolescent neurobiological, emotional, or behavioral differences. The programs address a range of issues which families face in the home. In addition to educational services and available community resources, we provide information on meetings, seminars, specific disorders, and the most recent research findings.

RESOURCE LIBRARY: Library of books, pamphlets, brochures, videos and other information is available to parents and professionals.

ADVOCACY: Works to improve services across service delivery systems for children with neurobiological, emotional, or behavioral differences.

The Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System are congressionally mandated, legally-based disability rights agencies. P&A agencies have the authority to provide legal representation and other advocacy services, under all federal and state laws, to all people with disabilities (based on a system of priorities for services). All P&As maintain a presence in facilities that care for people with disabilities, where they monitor, investigate and attempt to remedy adverse conditions. These agencies also devote considerable resources to ensuring full access to inclusive educational programs, financial entitlements, health care, accessible housing and productive employment opportunities.

(NM-LDA) is a nonprofit volunteer organization affiliated with the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDAA). LDAA gives support and information to persons with learning disabilities, parents, teachers, and other professionals through 50 state affiliates and 800 local units. NM-LDA is headquartered in Albuquerque. Dues of $25 per year entitle a family to belong to both organizations and receive their newsletters.
