Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Carol Rudd. I represent Autism Learn, a new website for autism on the internet. The site contains visually structured learning activities that are designed to help teach skills to persons with autism. Each of our activities are new designs that are unique and purposeful, and they are designed for persons with autism. They are visually structured, organized, and are worked in a repetitive left to right format. Most of our activities / tasks include a hierarchy with different levels built into them for more connected and meaningful learning. Visual guides are included wherever needed to help complete an activity with success.
I was looking through the Autism Link website, and saw all of the Helpful Links listed on your site. It is my hope that you will consider listing and linking the new Autism Learn website as resource for parents and professionals. I also hope that you will enjoy seeing our activities. Dr. Martinez has been working in the field of autism for approximately 25 years. She has worked with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age, teenage and adult populations. She has a B.S. in Special Education from CCNY, a Masters degree in Adolescent Autism, a Masters of Philosophy, and a Doctorate from Columbia University. Dr. Martinez is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Dr. Martinez worked for the New York City Public School system for 17 years as a teacher and a behavior analyst. Dr. Martinez has been instrumental in formulating ABA private schools and public programs for young children with PDD and Autism since 1998. Dr. Martinez has taught Education courses at The College of Staten Island, Long Island University, Touro and Hunter College. She has lectured and presented at various conferences regarding Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis. Dr. Martinez is a member of The Association for Behavior Analysis, The American Academy of Environmental Medicine, The Autism Society of America and The National Alliance for Autism Research. Her expertise lies in applied behavior analysis (ABA), self-injurious behavior (SIB), functional analysis, curriculum and verbal behavior (VB). Dr. Martinez currently serves as Co-Chair of the NYC Autism Speaks Walk Committee and is a curator of artworks of individuals on the autism spectrum.
