Advocates in Action is Rhode Island's Statewide Self-Advocacy organization. At Advocates in Action, we believe that Self-Advocacy means helping people who have a developmental disability, along with families and friends do these things:

-Learn to Speak-up
-Become Leaders
-Work together
-Work to Make a Difference on Issues that are Important to Them.

We believe everyone has abilities, and can be a contributing member of the community. We will do whatever it takes so people with disabilities gain greater independence, and lead fulfilling and productive lives.

To empower people with differing abilities to claim and enjoy their rights to dignity and respect.

Rhode Island Community Living and Supports (RICLAS)

INAC is a pro-active committee which has been responsible not only for sponsoring presentations on topics ranging from The Individual Education Plan, Attention Deficit Disorder, Transitioning, and Speech & Language Disorders, among many others, but has also published a Parent Information Booklet, opened the INAC Resource Library at the JR/SR High School, started a newsletter, and funded parents' attendance at various regional seminars. Only with the dedication of more people in the community can INAC continue to be as active as it has been in the past. Families for Effective Autism Treatment of Rhode Island (FEAT/RI) is a non-profit organization of parents. Our mission is to inform parents on effective early intervention based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We strive to disseminate accurate information about ABA, promote the development and quality of programs, as well as guide, support, and advocate for families seeking this type of intervention. FEAT/RI assistance is available to FEAT/RI members, as well as non-member parents and families.

The Commission: advocates for the concerns of people with disabilities; expands economic opportunities for businesses owned by or employing people with disabilities; raises the awareness of the rights of individuals with disabilities amongst people with disabilities and their families, employers, businesses, government officials and service providers; and ensures access to their government by people with disabilities.

Provides day, educational, and residential services to children and youth with autism. Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for persons with autism and other emotional and developmental disabilities.

children with disabilities and developmental delays, we compassionately and innovatively support, educate and empower all children, young adults and
their families to achieve their maximum potential and highest quality of life.

Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) is a consumer controlled, community based, nonprofit organization established to provide a range of independent living services to enhance, through self direction, the quality of life of Rhode Islanders with significant disability and to promote integration into the community.

PARI was incorporated in 1980 as a "consumer-directed" Independent Living Center. Our staff works with people with any kind of disability to identify goals and provide training, equipment, advocacy, and counseling to help them to achieve their goals. Whether the consumer is seeking medical resources, new ways of performing activities of daily life, transportation, housing, or ways of becoming involved in the community, the PARI Independent Living Center is the individual's professional resource for reaching independence. The Independent Living Center is a unique concept in non-residential resources for the person with a disability. PARI is a private, not for profit, community based agency whose programs and policies are determined by people with disabilities.

Promote an enhanced quality of life, social integration, and support for individuals of all ages affected by mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. Empower communities and individuals to promote wellness through prevention which includes: public awareness, education, public policy, and research. Provide quality, cost-effective services.

MISSION STATEMENT: To disseminate information regarding the nature and causes of communication disorders; To encourage cooperation among specialists and interest in the field of communication disorders;
To stimulate public interest in and support of the rehabilitation of persons with communication disorders; To promote communication between the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Rhode Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association (RISHA); To promote laws and regulations in this state, which will benefit consumers of our services and will enhance or uphold our profession to the national standards; To abide by the Code of Ethics of RISHA.

Special Olympics Rhode Island, one of the most innovative and dynamic sports organizations in the state. Special Olympics Rhode Island provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for more than 2,250 children and adults with mental retardation throughout the state.

Autism awareness.

Blackstone Valley ARC is a multi-service community based organization with individualized supports that include employment, recreation, advocacy, information and referral, and residential and day programs.

Since 1985, The Cove Center, Inc. has been serving adults in Rhode Island offering a range of instructional, vocational, and residential programs. The Center emphasizes an individuals' role in making choices and controlling the direction of his/her own life to the fullest extent possible. The ability to make appropriate choices and use self-control requires the on-going education, experience, and support by program staff.

Information and support, training, services, and research. The mission of the Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities is to promote the community membership of individuals with disabilities in school, work and society.
