Children's Care Hospital & School, based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the state's only children's hospital. It is a private, non-profit facility licensed by the South Dakota Department of Health. Last year, Children's Care Hospital & School served over 2200 children from birth to age 21 in South Dakota and surrounding states.

Children's Special Health Services is funded through the federal Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant and state matching funds, and administered by the South Dakota Department of Health. Its goal is to improve health care services for South Dakota children with special health care needs. Pediatric specialists, the primary care physician, registered nurses, social workers, and dietitians work together to provide diagnostic, consultative, and care coordination services. This team works closely with the child's family to help them meet the child's needs. Financial assistance is also available for specified conditions and procedures on a cost-share basis according to family size and income, utilizing the federal poverty guidelines

Currently Easter Seals South Dakota serves in excess of 10,000 children and adults each year, with the number served climbing each year. Children and adults with disabilities and special needs find highest-quality services designed to meet their individual needs when they come to Easter Seals. Whether through a birth condition, injury or illness, or because of functional limitations experienced in aging, Easter Seals South Dakota, services are the first step toward helping people with disabilities gain greater independence.

Music Therapy Services of South Dakota provides research-based and developmentally appropriate music therapy to children and young adults with disabilities. Services range from indvidual and groups sessions, consulting to programs, workshops and inservices. Specialized music instruction is also offered. Music Therapy and related strategies are provided by a board-certified music therapist and registered state service provider.

Special Olympics South Dakota (SOSD) is an accredited program of Special Olympics, Inc. The Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletics competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children (8 years and older) and adults with mental handicaps or closely related developmental disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
