At The Autism Engagement Center, we offer a full range of services to help families navigate the world of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Appalachian Behavior Support Services, LLC provides ABA education and training services for children with autism and their families in Northeast Tennessee and surrounding areas.

Autism and Behavior Services (ABS) is a non-profit organization providing a wide range of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to individuals with learning or behavioral difficulties. We also serve families, community organization, and schools. We offer 1:1 behavioral therapy in clinic, family training, behavioral assessments, behavior plans, in-home supervision and consultation, school consultations and workshops.

Ms. Wootton is a wonderful mom and has been a valuable resource in East Tennessee for families affected by Autism and other disabilities. She's a real go-getter and a tremendous advocate. When her daughter was diagnosed with PDD-NOS three years ago, there were scant resources for parents who needed answers. Even among the medical community and the school systems. No one seemed to know where to go or who to talk to. Ms. Wootton has played a large roll in establishing and maintaining this support system. P&A agencies have the authority to provide legal representation and other advocacy services, under l federal and state laws, to all people with disabilities (based on a system of priorities for services). All P&As maintain a presence in facilities that care for people with disabilities, where they monitor, investigate and attempt to remedy adverse conditions. These agencies also devote considerable resources to ensuring full access to inclusive educational programs, financial entitlements, health care, accessible housing, community living, and productive employment opportunities.

Harwood Center provides educational and therapy services to children under the age of three with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities in center, home and community-based settings.

Strategies for Autism through Individualized Learning (S.A.I.L) is a consulting project formed to help parents and professionals organize individualized teaching programs for children with autism and related disorders under the Pervasive Developmental Disorder umbrella (Autism, Asperger’s, PPD-NOS, Rett’s, Childhood degenerative disorder). S.A.I.L. focuses on developing goals in six basic domains:

* play/leisure * self-help
* academic * motor skills
We consult with families and professionals on the techniques needed to meet these goals and to advance the child's progress as new goals are chosen.

Our philosophy is based on the Science of Behavior Analysis (Applied Behavior Analysis, ABA) with an emphasis on teaching "learning to learn skills,” and preschool and early education curriculum. Our intervention combines strategies and state of the art practices from many of the ABA autism research and intervention centers around the country.

Our goal is to involve all of the people working with the child (i.e., daycare, school, mother's day out, baby-sitters, extended family, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Music Therapist etc.) resulting in a comprehensive and coordinated teaching effort. Through this cooperation, we hope to surround the child with people who know how to teach him/her most effectively. Objectives are individualized per child based on current skills and immediate, short term, and long term needs with the result being maximized learning in the least restrictive environment. Teaching strategies will be matched to the child's learning style and all learning environments; thus each child's program will be designed specifically for him/her.
