Ms. Wootton is a wonderful mom and has been a valuable resource in East Tennessee for families affected by Autism and other disabilities. She's a real go-getter and a tremendous advocate. When her daughter was diagnosed with PDD-NOS three years ago, there were scant resources for parents who needed answers. Even among the medical community and the school systems. No one seemed to know where to go or who to talk to. Ms. Wootton has played a large roll in establishing and maintaining this support system. Disability Law & Advocacy Center of Tennessee is the state's Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System. The P&A system is comprised of congressionally mandated, legally-based disability rights agencies. P&A agencies have the authority to provide legal representation and other advocacy services, under l federal and state laws, to all people with disabilities (based on a system of priorities for services). All P&As maintain a presence in facilities that care for people with disabilities, where they monitor, investigate and attempt to remedy adverse conditions. These agencies also devote considerable resources to ensuring full access to inclusive educational programs, financial entitlements, health care, accessible housing, community living, and productive employment opportunities.

Heart For Autism provides the building blocks to assisting families with children that have autism. We have on call consultants that are able to help you with implementing and running a home based ABA program. All of our consultants have children with autism and each have incredible stories to help encourage you throughout your journey of helping your autistic children grow.

The mission of the Kennedy Center is to conduct and support collaborative research, training, and information dissemination on behavioral, intellectual, and brain development. The Kennedy Center has teams of researchers from different disciplines working on common problems--over 100 researchers from 16 departments in Peabody College, the Schools of Medicine and Nursing, and the College of Arts and Science at Vanderbilt University.

NARHA Premier Accredited Center Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated to providing quality instruction in therapeutic horseback riding to disabled persons. Since incorporating in 1987, STAR has grown to be the largest program in East Tennessee. The mission of STAR is to provide an educational, recreational, and physically challenging experience through riding and other horse related activities for persons with disabilities in the Knoxville and surrounding areas. The skills gained in the STAR program will result in an enriched quality of life for the participants
