Comment:
Since Regional Center of Orange County is SO out of compliance with the law, it certainly doesn't seem like this Area Board is doing what they are supposed to be doing. State Counsel is supposed to be keeping RCOC honest, but if you read the Lanterman Act, and the supporting regulations, as I have, nothing could be farther from the truth. We as parents need to unite and fight back. By sitting on our rights, we lose our rights -- they are worth the paper that they are written on, just as surely as if you enter into a contract with a dishonest person. Unless you are willing to go to court to enforce that contract, you don't have a contract and you probably just lost your money. The way the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) got pushed into passage was by 14 people in wheelchairs who were willing to do a "sit-in" in the Federal Building in San Francisco. They sat there and refused to leave for two weeks! -- and now we have the ADA, due to the efforts of 14 courageous people. Are you willing to fight for your child's life, because that is absolutely what is on the line. How hard would you fight if a man snuck into your house and was about to murder your children? Would you take action then? We need to fight with as much determination here as we would there, because they are taking your child's life. I'm Pam Patterson, and I'm looking for some courageous, determined parents. I'm the Founder of The Special Moms of Orange County (look us up on Facebook). Please contact me if you are that parent.
